Join us for an exciting Welcome Reception to kick off the CESMII 2024 Member Meeting. This event will feature a warm welcome and an engaging presentation on the rich history of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Explore the CESMII Member Expo, where you can connect with exhibiting CESMII members while enjoying a night of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and networking with industry leaders.

During the reception, attendees can participate in an exclusive tour of Frontier, or OLCF-5, the world's first exascale supercomputer. Frontier became operational in 2022 and, as of December 2023, is the world's fastest supercomputer.

Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF)

The Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is DOE’s first research facility established to provide industry with affordable and convenient access to infrastructure, tools, and expertise to facilitate rapid adoption of advanced additive manufacturing technologies.  

There will be two options for touring the MDF on Wednesday, November 6th. You must register 

Tour 1: 1:00-2:30 PM
Tour 2 2:30-4:00 PM

Due to the nature of the Oak Ridge facilities, it's recommended to rent a car if possible. Access to Uber is often not as reliable. Busses will be provided from the MDF to Court of Flags for the Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening.

Where is the meeting being held?
Most of the 2024 CESMII Annual Member Meeting will be held at the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) on the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Campus. 
 
The Smart Manufacturing Executive Council Workshop & Welcome Reception/Member Expo will be held at the Main Campus - which is a 20-minute drive from the MDF.
 
Shuttle services will be made available from MDF to Main Campus at various times throughout the day. Please reference the Shuttle Bus Schedule for more information.

What is the parking situation at MDF?

Parking is limited. Please carpool to the event if possible. Rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft can be used to access our facilities - however, they are not as reliable as renting a car.

CESMII/ORNL will provide bus transportation to and from MDF and the Court of Flags for the evening reception on Wednesday, November 6th.

What is the Member Expo?

The Member Expo will take place Wednesday, November 6 from 5:00-8:00PM during the Welcome Reception at the Court of Flags (Building 5700). 

Exhibitors can begin setting up on Wednesday, November 6 starting at 2:30PM. (See Shuttle Bus Schedule).

Exhibitors will be provided a 6' table.

Shuttle Bus Schedule

Most of the events of the member meeting will be held at the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. However, the Welcome Reception & Smart Manufacturing Executive Meeting will be held at the ORNL Main Campus, which is roughly a 20 Minute Drive from the MDF.

We recommend leveraging the Shuttle Service as much as possible. Please note, ride share apps are not very reliable in this area. It is recommended you rent a vehicle and carpool if possible.

    • 11:30AM: Intended for SMEC Members to get to Main Campus for lunch & SMEC Meeting

    • 2:00PM: Intended for Exhibitors to set up prior to Welcome Reception

How do I register for a tour of the MDF?

There is an option to register for the 2 available tour times on the general registration form. If you have additional questions, please reach out to jillian.kupchella@cesmii.org

 

What are the badging requirements for ORNL?

US Citizens should bring one of the following types of identification:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • US passport
  • HSPD-12 badge
  • Military ID
  • State ID

Foreign National visitors must bring their passport and must have received a correct and current stamp (VWB, B1, L1, etc). Foreign nationals must also bring any accompanying visa documents, such as a visa, green card, I-20, EAD card, DS-2019, I-797, etc.

Foreign National Visitors will be emailed additional information prior to your visit that must be completed before arriving onsite.

What should I bring to the event?

Closed-toed shoes and pants

These are required for touring the MDF high bay. If you are wearing a dress, skirt, or shorts, you will not be able to leave the marked aisle ways or approach research equipment in MDF. Safety glasses will be provided by MDF to all attendees.

Laptop or other web-accessible device

Several sessions will use an interactive digital component. Ensure you have a laptop or similar device to provide real-time ideas, and feedback during these sessions.

What is the last day to register for the event?

Due to the guidelines of the facility, it is required that all attendees, foreign and domestic, are registered no later than October 6, 2024 to ensure ample time to grant access to the grounds for all attendees. 

You will be required to provide identification information prior to arriving. Details will be emailed leading up to the event. 

Can I still register for the event?
As of October 6, 2024, registration for the 2024 CESMII Annual Member Meeting is officially closed. We’re excited to welcome over 250 attendees to Knoxville on November 6-7 for what promises to be an enriching event.
